Where does your name come from?

The name is a hopeful one: it means “pulling together, caring, and sharing”. That’s what we are all about.

Why use bands?

Lifting with bands has numerous benefits:

1. You feel less stress on your joints as for most movements, the stress on the joint is at its peak when the joint is in a more optimal position (kiss knee pains good bye while doing squats).

2. Bands maintain constant muscle tension. You can't cheat a lift by using momentum to your advantage, so you can speed through reps (with control) and work those fast twitch muscles throughout the entire range of motion.

3. Bands take much less space compared to free weights.

4. Bands only deliver their rated forces. With weights you have what is called "shock loading". Meaning, if you drop a 100 lb weight 2 feet, you can feel upwards of 1000 lbs of force if you drop the weight on your foot or your spine! This will never happen with bands.

Can lifting with bands be as effective as lifting with weights?

Yes, here is a conclusion from a meta-analysis of 8 studies: “Evidence from this study suggests that resistance training with elastic devices provides similar strength gains when compared to resistance training performed from conventional devices.” By combining lifting with a heavier bar you get a sweet middle ground between weight lifting and band training. How do you tighten or loosen tension of the band?

By using different sized ropes and spacers you can use to increase or decrease the force. Adding a set of spacers makes the force greater. Using longer ropes makes the force less. Ropes and spacers are for sale here.

How often should I replace the rope?

We recommend replacing the rope at least once every five years. Inspect the rope before every use. If you notice any change in the knot, a hole in the outer protective jacket of the rope, or any unevenness, then please contact us at support@harambesystem.com and we will assist you.
